Supra burnouts in Sweden on the Chris and Ben Drift Road Show!

I’ve just gotten back from Europe so its time to start posting some updates and pics from the event in Paris and also surrounding madness!

So to start off heres a sneak peak from the Chris and Ben Drift Road Show with a Supra burnout, this two day drift event was held on an airstrip.  We were driving Bens Volvo 240, which was awesome!

Trying to fix crazy hands.

I made a quick video yesterday and it got me thinking about hand techniques. What techniques people use, like and find helpful. before I came to Japan I only ever used my right arm to steer. One of my goals of drifting here was to change to two hands. For months of trying I kept reverting back to one hand and found that I was a lot more aggressive with one. But now I’m starting to get the hang of it and its becoming more natural. I know it has saved me many times on Minami having a left arm that is not useless at steering.

Instances of crazy hands have been dramatically reduced :) and I cant help but think all of my time drifting with one hand has helped with battling as you sit on the hand break so much.

A sweet RC drift track in New Zealand

It may have nothing to do with Japan, and I know not everyone is a fan of RC drifting, but you have to admit this is a very cool RC drift track!

Stu and I playing on School course.

Disco Stu now has a missile!  His A31 Cifiro was his main car up until last week, now it is his missile which means a touch here or there no longer ends in tears.  It means we can practice a lot harder and in the end have a lot more fun too.

.

I NEED YOUR HELP!  I put a bit of effort into this video a would like to get it as “out there” as possible.   So if you know people that would appreciate it send them the link, share the link on your facebook  and even post it on your local forum!  Its nice to know people are watching and appreciating your work.

.

Cheers, Chris

Please let me know what you think of the video, tips and hints welcome!

The first random car for DriftWeapon.com

Modified vans are a dime a dozen in Japan, but some stand out more than others. It seems just about every van that rolls off the showroom floor will be fitted with some sort of kit and wheels.

This Nissan Largo caught my eye today so Chance grabbed some pics. I hope you like it.

I plan to publish a lot more of the random cars I see in Japan, after all, there is no shortage of them!

+1 for random Japan

Here at Ebisu we wait for the rain to practice, yesterday being the perfect example. As the rain fell we drove up to the track only to find out the Drift Land was closed, it was being privately rented. The individual tracks can be rented by anyone and used for just about anything you can think of.

These guys were about as random as youll find, what they were doing seemed a little bit confusing. It seemed they were testing different setups but were testing them very slowly…. however the really weird thing was the sound of the turbo, it made the noise of a T51r, came on boost almost instantly, the engine was very quiet, but the car with its insane sounding turbo…. went nowhere. Was fun to listen to though.

Changing setups between the runs.

Look closely on the back window, the new 130sx, perhaps a concept car? perhaps not.

Who said only the winners get to fight!

It is a tradition at drift competitions that the winners are covered in water as they receive their trophies. I have seen it at many different events, and it doesn’t seem to matter how cold it is. Usually received from a traffic cone or a bucket, everyone gets involved and its a great way to end a meeting.

Powervehicles crew water fight
We had all been drifting on Nishi and heard there was a comp on Minami, knowing there would be a water fight at the end, we grabbed out guns and prepared for the fight!

Powervehicles crew water fight
Drinking chu-hi and pumping your gun takes coordination. Mastered here by Dave from JPP.

Powervehicles crew water fight
The water fight has become so mandatory that even the prizes come in plastic bags so they don’t get wet!

Powervehicles crew water fight
Once they have their winnings, BAM!  Ususally hit from all directions, no one escapes!

Powervehicles crew water fight
Can’t help but have fun at a water fight, Dave looking suspicious…

Powervehicles crew water fight
Hiro and Dave running from Andy and his bucket, Dave made some odd poses running from differnt peoples attacks, this is not the worst one.

Powervehicles crew water fight
However Dave was the main man when it came to water offence, Emily, slightly fed up had revenge on her mind.

Powervehicles crew water fight
Chance was taking all of the pics, her sarcasm of  “sure my cameras water proof” was a little lost on Andy, who then thew a bucket of water at her (minus the bucket).

Andy trying to keep us all in line.

In the end we all had a heap of fun, if not a little to much as we took over the fight from the locals, next time lets hope for bigger and better!

Famous on Grid TV

A little while ago we were lucky enough to join in on some filming for Grid TV. On the day they filmed a segment for team Orange and one for PowerVehicles. It was a lot of fun, but a very long day to only get a 4 min segment, but i guess thats how filming goes. I hope you like it.

Now this is how to wall scrape Minami.

Wall scrape Minami

Getting extreme angle on Minami

Most people who drift Minami will come away with some sort of wall scrape, some worse than others.  If your coming here to leave your mark on the Minami wall then take a lesson from this guy.  Its one thing to take out a tail light but to scrape the entire rear bar! very impressive.

White water

White Water

White Water found at a Mini Stop in Japan

Just when you though water was boring, trust the Japanese to make it interesting with White water! It was only 100 yen and doesnt taste to bad, kind of like a mix of water a Yakhult….. it tastes better than that sounds.
